From 1970 to 1988, David L. Jacobson was employed by various engineering firms. The scope of this experience is extensive and multi-faceted. He has provided Structural and Civil Engineering for projects including and ranging from nuclear power plants, municipal waste treatment plants, petrochemical facilities, bridges, strip shopping centers, banks, office buildings, and schools, to residential condominium complexes and custom residences. A significant part of this work includes specialty structures such as rigid frame enclosures constructed from aluminum and the design of segmental retaining walls.
Since 1988 to the present, David L. Jacobson has continued his practice of Structural and Civil Engineering with his own firm, David L. Jacobson & Associates, Ltd. In addition to the project design, forensics has become an important part of Mr. Jacobson’s work, analyzing structural or civil engineering problems to determine "what happened" and developing remedial procedures. He has also been called upon to give expert testimony in several jurisdictions. Many insurance companies and attorneys have relied upon his judgment and knowledge. His early experience owning a construction company, where Mr. Jacobson actually did "hands-on" construction work, gave him invaluable experience from the non-technical aspect.
David L. Jacobson & Associates, Ltd. employs a staff of full-time civil and structural engineers, plus support personnel, and can provide the professional and personal attention required of a specialty consultant working on today’s more complicated projects. Without the costly overhead of large corporations, David L. Jacobson & Associates, Ltd. delivers the highest level of service at a realistic cost.
